Our commitment
We want everyone to be able to use brokerandagent.com, our free calculators and the websites we build for agents, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification, captions or
The standard we work to
We design and build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard most accessibility laws and guidelines point to. We don’t claim every page meets every criterion yet; where we know of a gap,
What we do
- Structure. Pages use real headings, landmarks, lists and tables, so assistive technology can
move through them. - Keyboard. Menus, forms and calculators work from the keyboard, with
a visible focus. - Screen readers. Calculator results are announced as they change, and images that carry meaning
have text alternatives. - Motion. Animation stops when your device asks
for reduced motion. - Color and text. Text is sized to be read and set against backgrounds with strong contrast, and nothing relies
on color alone. - Zoom. Pages reflow on small screens and at high zoom
without scrolling sideways.
How we check
We test our pages with automated accessibility checks (Lighthouse and axe) as we build them, try them by keyboard, and fix what we find. The last full check of brokerandagent.com was on
Known limits
- Listing photos and descriptions on the websites we build come from each MLS, and many don’t include text alternatives. We show what
the MLS provides. - Maps. Map search can be hard to use with a screen reader. Every search also has a list of
the same homes. - Other companies’ content, like embedded videos, maps and booking tools, follows
their own accessibility. - Older PDFs and documents you upload to Workspace or a website may not be tagged
for screen readers. - Sections that move on their own, like the steps that advance every few seconds, stop as soon as you interact with them, and don’t move at all when your device asks
for reduced motion.
Websites we build
The websites we build for agents are designed to the same standard and come with their own accessibility page. If you have trouble using one, tell the agent or brokerage, or tell us at hello@brokerandagent.com and we’ll fix
