The short answerFollow Up Boss is a mature, well-liked real estate CRM at $69 per user per month, with a deep integration catalogue and a strong team-accountability motion. It is a CRM: no transactions, no e-signature, no CMA or net sheet, no website. Broker & Agent Workspace is a complete front office covering all of that in one system, free permanently for one user and $99 a month for the full platform. Choose Follow Up Boss if you run a dialer-heavy team and your surrounding stack is already built around it. Choose Workspace if you would rather have the pipeline and the paperwork in one place, and not pay per seat to start.
Choose Broker & Agent Workspace if… You want one system instead of four: CRM, transactions, documents and e-signature, CMAs and net sheets, and an AI assistant that can actually operate it. You would rather start free and pay when the platform is doing work for you than pay per user from day one. You also want the option of the website underneath it.
Choose Follow Up Boss if… You run a call-floor motion where the dialer and lead speed are the whole game, your team is already trained on it, and your stack is wired into its integration catalogue. Ten-plus years of ecosystem is a real asset. It is a strong product and we would tell you so.

Follow Up Boss figures are their published rates as of September 2026 (followupboss.com/pricing), corroborated by independent write-ups (Capterra, CloudTalk). Broker & Agent pricing is published on our workspace pricing page.

What the same team actually pays

Per-user pricing and owner-plus-seat pricing diverge as the team grows. Both sides at their entry tier, monthly billing, before any add-ons.

Team size Workspace Pro Follow Up Boss
1 agent, free tier$0Not offered
1 agent, full platform$99$69 (Grow)
3 agents$217$207 (Grow)
5 agents$335$345 (Grow) or $499 (Pro)
10 agents$630$499 (Pro)
25 agentsBrokerage, quoted$1,000 (Platform)

Workspace figures are the $99 owner rate plus $59 per additional seat, and drop by $40 a month if you also have a website with us. Follow Up Boss figures are their published rates. Neither row includes calling: ours is a $33 per-number add-on, theirs is included on Pro and $39 per user on Grow. Their flat-rate tiers become the better deal at roughly ten users and up, which is an honest thing to say about a competitor.

Where we win

Not on being a cheaper CRM. On being a different shape of product for the same money.

The paperwork is in the same system Transactions, documents, e-signature and compliance sit next to the contact they belong to. With a CRM-only product those live in dotloop, SkySlope or DocuSign, and the deal history is split across two vendors that do not talk to each other.
The CRM part costs nothing Unlimited contacts with no record cap, pipeline, tasks, smart lists, lead inbox, email and calendar sync, automations, import and export. Permanently, not for fourteen days. Follow Up Boss charges $69 per user per month for that ground.
Even with texting, the maths holds A solo agent who wants a business number pays $33 here against $108 there, since Grow adds $39 per user for the dialer on top of the $69. Their flat-rate Pro tier gets cheaper around ten users, which is a fair thing for them to win on.
Automations that run the boring half Drip campaigns and multi-step action plans, plus watchers that act on their own: a lead sitting untouched, a hot lead gone quiet, new listings matching a saved search, a price drop, a closing week, a home anniversary. Eighteen triggers, each described in plain English, editable and pausable per contact.
Smart lists that keep themselves current Define the conditions once — everyone from a source who has gone quiet a fortnight, every hot lead without a task — and the list stays accurate as records change. On the free plan, with no cap on how many you build.
AI that was designed in, not added on The assistant reads the pipeline, the transactions and the calendar because they are one dataset. It drafts the follow-up, builds the net sheet, assembles the presentation and logs the call. That is hard to retrofit onto a CRM built before it.
The website underneath, if you want it A custom IDX site from $89 a month that feeds the same records with no integration in between, and drops Workspace Pro to $59. A CRM cannot fix a website that does not rank.

The comparison people actually make

The instinct is to put $69 next to $99 and conclude we are the expensive one. That comparison only works if the two products do the same job, and they do not. Follow Up Boss is a CRM, deliberately and well. Ask what an agent running it actually pays in a year and the picture changes: a CRM, plus a transaction platform, plus an e-signature account, plus whatever produces CMAs and listing presentations. Those are four invoices, four logins, and four places a deal's history can be sitting when you need it.

Workspace is one of those invoices covering all four jobs. That is the actual comparison, and it is the reason the per-seat maths above is not the whole story either.

Where Follow Up Boss is genuinely the better fit

Three cases, and we will say them plainly. If your team runs a high-volume dialer motion with agents on the phone all day, their product has been sharpened around that for years and ours has not. If your stack already runs through their integration catalogue, a decade of ecosystem is a real asset. And past roughly ten users their flat-rate tiers get cheaper than our per-seat model, which is a fair thing for them to win on.

What we would push back on is the assumption that a CRM is the whole problem. For most agents the paperwork, the presentations and the website are where the time actually goes, and a better CRM does not touch any of them.

Switching, honestly

We do the move. Contacts, notes, tags and history come across by CSV and we handle the mapping rather than sending you a template. Our lead intake accepts the same shape Follow Up Boss uses, deliberately, so the sources pointed at your CRM today get repointed in minutes instead of rebuilt. And Workspace Free costs nothing, so you can run both side by side until you are satisfied, then turn the old one off on your own schedule.

Common questions

How much does Follow Up Boss cost compared to Broker & Agent Workspace?

Is Follow Up Boss a better CRM than Workspace?

Follow Up Boss is an excellent, mature CRM with a deep integration catalogue and a large community, and it has earned its reputation for lead speed and team accountability. What it is not is a complete front office: there is no transaction management, no e-signature, no CMA or net sheet, no listing presentations, and no website. Those live in other products you buy alongside it. Workspace covers all of that in one system, so the comparison is not really CRM against CRM, it is a CRM against a CRM plus the four tools most agents buy around one.

Does Workspace have a free plan like Follow Up Boss?

Follow Up Boss does not have a free plan; it offers a trial and then starts at $69 per user per month. Workspace Free is free permanently, for everyone, with or without a website from us. It includes the full contact book with no record cap, a lead inbox, tasks, pipeline, smart lists, email and calendar sync, document storage with e-signature, net sheets, the tour planner, and the transactions hub. It is a real product to run a business on, not a trial that expires.

I am picking my first CRM. Why not just start with Follow Up Boss?

Because you would be paying $69 a month for something you can have for nothing. Our free plan is a full CRM: unlimited contacts with no record cap, pipeline, tasks, smart lists, the lead inbox, email and calendar sync, automations, and full import and export. It does not expire and it is not a trial. Start there, run your database on it for a year, and pay us $99 only if you later want the AI, the Studio tools and the transactions layer. If you are choosing between paying $828 a year and paying nothing to find out whether you like it, that is not a close call.

What does the free plan actually include?

Unlimited contacts with no cap on records. Lead inbox, pipeline, tasks, and smart lists that keep themselves current. Email and calendar sync with Google or Microsoft. Automations, including drip campaigns and multi-step action plans. Document storage and e-signature. The transactions hub with deals, milestones, close dates and commission. CSV import and full export whenever you want. What it does not include is the AI, the Studio tools, texting from a business number, and additional user logins, which are the paid parts.

Can I move my Follow Up Boss data across?

Yes, and we do it for you. Contacts, notes, tags and history come across and we handle the mapping rather than sending you a template. Our lead intake accepts the same shape Follow Up Boss uses, deliberately, so the sources pointed at your CRM today get repointed in minutes instead of rebuilt. And because the free plan costs nothing, you can run both side by side until you are satisfied.

Which one is better for a team?

Follow Up Boss is built around team accountability and is very good at it: routing, ponds, dialer-heavy workflows, and the reporting a team lead lives in. Workspace does routing, ponds, assignment, shared and private contacts, team messaging and team reporting too, and adds transactions, compliance and documents that a team otherwise buys separately. If your team runs on a call floor and a heavy dialer motion, look hard at their Pro plan.

Does Workspace scale to a brokerage?

Further than a team CRM does, and this is a structural difference rather than a seat count. Follow Up Boss scales to more users; what it has no concept of is an office, a region, or what happens to an agent's book when they leave. Workspace has brokerage, office, team and regional hierarchy, centralised roles, routing and visibility policy, compliance oversight across the organisation, organisation-wide reporting, and agent offboarding and transfer. The same product runs a solo agent on the free plan and a brokerage with all of that turned on, so growing never means migrating.

What does Follow Up Boss do that Workspace does not?

A deeper third-party integration catalogue built over more than a decade, a larger community and body of training material, and a dialer motion refined around high-volume calling teams. If there is a specific tool your business runs on, ask us about it and we will tell you straight away whether it is covered.
